The PADI Instructor Examination (IE) is a comprehensive assessment to evaluate your skills, knowledge, and readiness to teach PADI scuba diving courses. This examination aims to determine your qualifications for becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI). Successfully passing the IE is a pivotal step in your journey to share your passion for diving and to ensure safe and effective instruction for future divers.
What the IE assesses!

Teaching ability - How well you can teach in a classroom, confined water, and open water.

How the IE is conducted!

The IE is a two-day program.

PADI evaluators assess your performance using objective criteria.

The IE includes classroom presentations, written exams, and teaching in confined and open water.

The IE includes a rescue exercise demonstration.
What does the IE mean?

Passing the IE is a significant achievement that marks the end of your journey to becoming a PADI instructor.

Successful candidates are certified as PADI OWSI and can teach courses from Open Water Diver to Divemaster.
Prerequisites, duration, and PADI fees to enroll in this PADI IE program

After completing an OWSI program or an entire In-depth IDC in Thailand, with our PADI Course Director Alain Barrat within 12 months, you will be eligible to participate in a Phuket PADI IE. However, you will need to have the following prerequisites:
IE participants' prerequisites!

18 years old.

IDC certificate of completion or an IE certification of participation.

Candidates following a crossover program, either an IDC or OWSI, must have at least 100 logged dives and show proof of deep, night, and navigation experience.

IE enrolment form with the appropriate PADI fees.

Medical Statement conducted within 12 months, signed and dated by a physician.
IE - Duration: 2 days - Price: 1'190.- $AU.
Certification!

IE candidates are certified PADI OWSI and eligible to teach only when their local PADI Office processes candidate registration packets and IE forms, usually within 14 working days, and meets insurance requirements where applicable.
